After Apple updated the app store guidelines, many video game emulators appeared in the store. One is Folium, the first to play Nintendo 3Ds games on the iPhone. The application, which emulas Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advanced, has the potential to be fun – but it brings some caveats.
In short, the caveats are: a particularity of iOS impairs emulation, the “smooth wheel” emulator only on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models and the application is not free or brings preinstalled games.

Nintendo 3DS on the iPhone can be fun, but keep it in mind…

Third-party applications do not support JIT compilation (Just-in-time) on iOS, iPhone operating system. This slightly impairs the performance of Folium emulation, especially in old iPhones. In the iPhone 15 Pro models and Pro Max, playing Nintendo 3DS should be more fluid.
Another important point: The emulator costs $ 24.90 and needs the iPhone to have at least iOS 15 installed. In addition, the app has no iPad version or Apple TV. And the user must download the games (ROMs) on their own.
The good news is that the Folium Works with other console controls-for example: Nintendo Switch Joy-Con and Switch Pro Controller; PS4 and PS5 controls; and Xbox controls.
There is also PS1 emulator for iPhone

In addition to Nintendo 3Ds games, you can play PlayStation 1 games on iPhone, also through an emulator. The app is called Gamma and has several features for those who want to remember Sony console games.
The app uses Google Drive and Dropbox synchronization to back up gaming files and save progress. In addition, Gamma automatically pulls the art of the game cover.
However, as usual in emulators, you must have the original games and convert them to ROMs, a compatible reading file on the emulator.
Users had mixed reactions about the emulator. Some pointed out that the interface needs to improve and that using third party controls leads the application to lock.
