Microsoft plans to update your Xbox mobile application for Android, allowing users in the US to buy and play Xbox games on their devices next month. The information is from The Verge.

This occurs after a court decision that requires Google to no longer require the use of Google Play for this type of purchase from November 1st.

Sarah Bond, President of Xbox, commented In an X post that this decision will open the Google store for more competition, offering more options to developers.

From November, players will be able to buy games directly from the Xbox application on Android, which represents a significant change, as Microsoft did not have this functionality before.

How users will have Xbox games on Android

  • The court decision also requires Google to allow third -party application stores on Google Play, making the environment more competitive.
  • With the new update, users will be able to access Xbox games and use Xbox Cloud Gaming to broadcast games on their devices as soon as they buy them.
  • It is unclear why Microsoft has not yet offered this functionality before, as other platforms, such as Steam and PlayStation, already allow purchases on mobile devices. Microsoft has provided no more details other than Bond’s statement.

In addition, Microsoft is developing a browser -based Xbox mobile store, which will initially focus on items and offers within the game, with plans to launch Microsoft studio games in the future. The tests of this store have already started and the company promises more news soon.
