Virtual reality glasses were one of the market bets for the video game of the future. Maybe one day they are still, but not today. Far from it, by the way. The truth is that this mode has gained the heart of a very small portion of players – the heart and pocket.
Sony, which has been on the console podium for over two decades with its PlayStation, has invested in this experience. PSVR is already in its second edition. You can’t say that the first was an absolute success. The second, focused only on the PS5 owners, even less.

And, according to Bloomberg, the company decided to interrupt the production of its virtual reality headset. The reason? Try to burn a large stock of units not sold.
According to sources heard by the site, the Japanese company would have produced more than 2 million units of the product. They even went well in the debut in February last year. But sales parked.
It is noteworthy that the information is not official. Bloomberg has talked to people familiar with Sony’s plans – however, they do not want to identify themselves.

Why didn’t sales take off?
- Because the accessory is still inaccessible to much of the public.
- Buying a PlayStation 5 is almost an investment, staying at $ 3,500 to $ 4,000 today.
- Add this to the very salty value of the glasses, which, alone, cost $ 550 (around $ 4,100 here in Brazil).
- We are talking about R $ 8,000 added up!
- In addition, the studios did not embrace the idea much – and made few cool games for the accessory.
- Ok, we have some very cool, like a Horizonone Star Warsone Resident Evil and the Gran Turismo 7but the library is not much bigger than that.
- The offer is much smaller compared to the PS5 catalog – which alone comes out much cheaper.
- Returning to talk about price, imagine spending $ 8,000 just to have the console.
- Thinking that each cool release costs at least $ 300, we are talking about a very small portion of society that has this money to invest in leisure.

Next Steps
Let it be clear: I find it really cool to play in a virtual reality glasses. Never played? It is an experience that is worth it. Especially in a PSVR 2.
There was a very high quality leap from 1 to 2. Beginning with what I think is most important: comfort. Staying that stroke in the face does not hurt or weigh. And the image is beautiful, with OLED 4K screens on the display.
THE Digital Look It has a very well done review that shows why Sony’s VR is one of the best on the market. It is worth checking out, as is this video of a member of our team testing the equipment.
