When I wrote about the PlayStation Portal in June, I made a point of highlighting the weakness of the product: it only works if you have a PlayStation 5. More than that: you can only play the “portable” if it is dividing the same Wi-Fi as the base console.
That is, it was never an self -sufficient video game. It was more for a PS5 accessory – and that was important to warn, so that people didn’t buy the portal thinking it would be a kind of Sony’s game boy.

Well, 5 months later and the Japanese company finally corrected this problem. The company made available last Wednesday (20), a beta update that enables the so-called cloud gaming for the equipment. That is, users will be able to play in the cloud! This eliminates the need to have a linked PlayStation 5.
Currently, the cloud catalog has over 120 games, including Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Monster Hunter Rise and Ratchet & CLANK: RIFT APART.
The news is only appropriate for PS Plus Premium subscribers. And, yes, I didn’t write it wrong. It’s really premium plus… and that’s the bad news for us Brazilians.
Nothing changed in Brazil
- The maximum PS Plus plan here is Deluxe.
- Therefore, there is no premium mode in our market.
- That is, the change of cloud gaming is not valid for Brazilian consumers.
- According to post on official blog Of the brand, only 30 countries in the world will have access to the news.
- Among them are Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United States.

- Sony states that to transmit at 720p, you will need a minimum connection of 7 Mbps, while the 1080p quality will require a minimum connection of 13 Mbps.
- The company also reported that, for now, it has no plans to bring PS Plus Premium elsewhere.
- In short: buying a portal is still not a good deal here in Brazil.
- Unless you want to throw lying on the bed or sitting in the toilet (as long as the PS5 is connected to the room).
Difference of Plans
PS Plus offers 3 types of plans in Brazil.
The first of them and the most basic meets the name of Essential. It guarantees gamers access to online multiplayer, as well as two free games every month.
The next package is PS Plus Extra (which is mine). In addition to having all Essential services, this plan offers a vast catalog with over 450 titles you can choose to download from an online library.
Finally, we have PS Plus Deluxe, which accumulates all the benefits of previous plans and also features classic games of PlayStation One, PlayStation 2 and PSP. Another advantage is that you can test some releases before deciding to really buy them.

And, just out of curiosity, PS Plus Premium consists of all the advantages of Deluxe added to the PlayStation Now streaming service, which allows you to play up to 400 games for the cloud.
As Brazil is not supported by PS Now, the premium plan is not available in the country.
Among those available, Essential costs R $ 34.90 per month, R $ 84.90 per quarter or R $ 278.90 per year. Extra leaves for R $ 52.90 per month, R $ 139.90 per quarter or R $ 475.90 per year. Deluxe, in turn, costs $ 59.90 per month, $ 159.90 per quarter or $ 538.90 per year.
Still on prices, you will find the PS Portal for about $ 1,500 here in Brazil.
