Sony has announced the release of PlayStation 5 Pro, an enhanced version of its popular console. The PS5 Pro arrives with 67% more powerful GPU, Advanced Ray and new upscaling technology for artificial intelligence. The new console debuts in the market as early as November this year.

Over the past four years, since the release of PS5, Sony has evolved the console experience, delivering high quality games to its players. Now, the company announces the PS5 Pro, the most advanced hardware of the PlayStation family to this day, focused on meeting the demand of players and developers by higher loyalty charts and smoother frame rates.

Main performance improvements in PS5 Pro:

  • Enhanced GPU: The new PS5 Pro GPU has 67% plus processing units compared to the original PS5 and 28% more fast memory. This allows an increase of up to 45% in graphic rendering speed, providing a more fluid gaming experience.
  • Ray Advanced Tracing: Ray Tracing technology has been significantly improved, with more dynamic reflections and light refractions. The projection of light rays now happens at speeds up to three times larger than in PS5.
  • UPSCALING BY IA: The PS5 Pro introduces PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an upscaling technology driven by artificial intelligence. This technology improves the clarity of images by adding an extraordinary amount of details.

Powerful GPU and Advanced Tracing Ray

The PS5 Pro arrives with a 67% more powerful GPU than the previous and 28% faster in terms of memory, providing an increase of up to 45% in rendering speed.

The console also features an enhanced Ray Tracing, which doubles, and in some cases triple the projection speed of light rays, creating more dynamic reflections and refractions.

Super resolution and upscaling by IA

One of PS5 Pro’s main innovations is the use of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an upscaling technology driven by Artificial Intelligence (IA), which increases the clarity of images by adding more details accurately. This aims to improve the visual experience, especially in games that require more detailed graphics.

Compatibility and improvements for games

The PS5 Pro also introduces the Boost game, a function that improves the performance of over 8,500 compatible PS4 games, stabilizing or optimizing gameplay. The graphic quality of these games can also be improved, with support for 8K and VRR. In addition, the console will be compatible with Wi-Fi 7 connection technology, where available.

Design and Accessories

The PS5 Pro maintains the family design of the original PS5, with similar dimensions, allowing the use of current accessories such as PlayStation VR2, DualSense Edge, and Access control.

The console will be sold with a 2 TB SSD, a DualSense control and the “Astro’s Playroom” game. Sony will also offer the option to add an Ultra HD Blu-Ray disk drive available separately.
