Earlier this month, Microsoft announced its intention to launch an Xbox Reformulated application for Android in November, with the promise of allowing remote purchases and games directly from the phone. However, we are close to entering December and the new application has not yet been released.

Sarah Bond, president of Xbox, explained, in an X publication, that Microsoft failed to launch the funds as planned due to “temporary administrative suspension”.

“Due to a temporary administrative suspension granted recently by the courts, we cannot currently launch these appeals as planned. Our team has built the functionality and is ready to air as soon as the court made a final decision, ”she posted.

What is the court decision that stuck the launch of the Xbox app

  • Although Bond has not directly responsible for Google, the suspension is linked to a court decision in the United States;
  • The court answered Google’s request to suspend changes in its play store;
  • These changes, originally programmed to take effect on November 1 this year, require the opening of the store to allow the launch of other application stores and the use of alternative collection systems by developers.

While PlayStation and Steam apps allow the purchase of games without using the Play Store collection system, it is unclear why the Xbox app does not follow the same approach.

Currently, Microsoft offers an Xbox Cloud Gaming subscription service, allowing the remote game via Game Pass, but due to Google’s terms, the charge should be made by Play Store. For now, the Xbox Cloud Gaming is only available at the Samsung Galaxy Store.
