The excitement surrounding Disney’s Frozen franchise continues to build with the release of the first trailer for Frozen 3, which showcases Anna and Elsa embarking on a magical journey through a portal into a breathtaking world filled with icy crystal butterflies. This highly anticipated sequel was unveiled at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, with Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell presenting the trailer to an enthusiastic audience.
According to Menzel, who lends her voice to Elsa, the new storyline takes the characters “far from Arendelle into a frozen land that is more wild and dangerous.” The trailer opens dramatically with a visual of the northern lights, leading to a snowflake transforming into a butterfly that travels to Arendelle Castle. During a pivotal scene at Anna and Kristoff’s wedding, this butterfly collides with Elsa, triggering the portal that transports them to the mysterious icy realm.
In this new setting, the sisters encounter a yet-to-be-revealed villain with dark hair who is on a quest to find Elsa. Additionally, fan-favorite Josh Gad, who voices Olaf, took the stage to perform a love song about a new ice character named Samantha. Both Menzel and Bell hinted that the upcoming film will see every character exploring new romantic interests.
During the presentation, Disney also showcased new costumes for Anna and Elsa, which are expected to become popular among children worldwide. Elsa’s new look features a striking purple-blue ombre long-sleeved dress paired with a blue hooded cape, while Anna is dressed in an elegant pleated pink gown with a turquoise undershirt. In the trailer, Anna is seen in a stunning white wedding dress adorned with floral embroidery, while Elsa wears a beautiful mauve dress.
The trailer for Frozen 3 comes just over a year ahead of its scheduled release on November 24, 2027. Fans can look forward to returning to Arendelle soon, as both Frozen films and various shorts are currently available for streaming on Disney Plus.
